A GOHS & Shepherd Center Partnership
Funded by Governor's Office of Highway Safety and facilitated by Shepherd Center, Scoot Safe is the first federally funded, evidence-based electric scooter injury prevention campaign.
Micromobility is here to stay, but the GOHS understands that micromobility presents its own variety of challenges.
Since 2018, the Associated Press has reported 11 scooter deaths in Georgia. Four of those occurred in metro Atlanta, making Georgia’s scooter fatality rate drastically higher than the national average.
Meanwhile, Shepherd Center has noticed rising scooter-related injuries – 44% of them brain injuries. Despite this trend, national research shows most electric scooter riders who were injured in crashes were not wearing helmets.
